Agreement to terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Ingredible application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the app.

Description of service

Ingredible is a food scanning application that provides nutritional information and dietary guidance for people managing chronic health conditions including cardiovascular disease, hypertension, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and type 2 diabetes. The app allows users to scan product barcodes or search for foods by name, and receive colour-coded (Red, Amber, Green) scores indicating the suitability of that product for their selected health conditions.

Important health disclaimer

• The scoring and guidance provided by Ingredible is based on published clinical guidelines but is not tailored to your individual clinical situation
• Dietary requirements for chronic conditions vary significantly between individuals based on blood test results, medications, disease progression, and other clinical factors
• You must always consult your doctor, renal dietitian, or other qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your diet
• Ingredible scores should be used as a starting point for discussion with your healthcare team, not as a substitute for professional advice
• Nutrient data sourced from Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Ingredible. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are using the app on behalf of a minor in your care, you accept responsibility for their use of the app.

Account registration

To use Ingredible, you must create an account using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to update it as necessary. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that provide false information.

Subscription and payment

Free trial

New users receive a 3-day free trial with full access to all features. No payment information is required to start the trial.

Free tier

After the trial expires, users who have not subscribed may use Ingredible with a limit of one scored scan per day.

Premium subscription

Ingredible Premium provides unlimited scans and searches. Subscriptions are available on a monthly or annual basis. Prices are displayed within the app at the time of purchase.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings
• No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods, except where required by applicable law

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Ingredible to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Use automated means to access or interact with the app
• Transmit any harmful, offensive, or disruptive content

Intellectual property

Ingredible and its content, including but not limited to the scoring algorithms, user interface design, and clinical threshold data, are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. Nutritional data sourced from Open Food Facts is made available under the Open Database Licence. Nutritional data from USDA FoodData Central is in the public domain.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

• Ingredible is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis without warranties of any kind
• We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
• We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any nutritional information provided
• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for the subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by using the 'Delete account and data' option in the app's Settings screen. This will permanently delete all your server-side data. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service, without prior notice.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The current terms are always available at ingredible.co.uk/terms.

Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
